We use Ubiquiti network gear for our home and outdoor space, it might be a bit of a learning curve for you but once you are familiar with the ecosystem it's very flexible, easy to manage, and easy to expand on as needed. Thank you.Īdded: We'd like to add security cameras as well to the outside. As for future management of the network, I can learn to be technically savvy if needed to manage whatever we implement. If you have any suggestions which include actual device/part recommendations for this entire setup (inside the house and outside), it would be most helpful as I don't know networking. Also, I'm going to have all the ethernet cables originating in the basement to keep the living spaces from having to see the network setup, so they all need to be connected to a main switch or something. I have no idea the best way to do all this. I'd also like to be able to walk around the house and outside with the phone switching from a weak access point to a stronger access point seamlessly as it detects it (is this even possible?). If there's a good product that would enable me to run power and extend the network further into the acreage, I'd love to do that. I'd like to propagate a wireless signal throughout the house and also to the outside over a few acres.for now.
The home is also located at the top of the hill with our acreage below us. The home is 2 floors of 1500 sq ft (living area on top and a basement), so 3000 sq ft total with thin walls. While we are doing this, we are having them run ethernet to all the rooms for our home computers and other devices that are fixed. We are currently having the entire home rewired to current electrical standards since it was built in 1950. We are only using the provided Spectrum WiFi router at the moment. We have a house and 10 acres that isn't covered by cellular service, so we are using WiFi calling which mostly works if you are in the house close to the router.
